my name's rachel. i'm 26 and i live in new york state with my husband and 4-year-old monster child. i love to cook, and grow stuff. currently i stay at home. someday i'd like to be a professional photographer, focusing on food and nature.
this is hannah (the 4-year-old monster):
her favorite things include spongebob, making messes, cupcakes, chutes and ladders, and being outside.
really though, we have a lot of fun together. she can be such a blast as long as she's not grumpy :)
back to me. i've been a vegan since january 2011. it was kind of my new year's resolution. it's something i had been wanting to do for years and finally decided to really do it this time. before that i was mostly experimenting with vegan cooking and baking to see if it was something i could stick to. turns out it was! i think before, i didn't realize it was possible. i didn't know what to eat or how to cook vegan food. and after reading a fair share of vegan blogs (there really is a LOT of info out there if you just look), it stuck with me. and here i am now.
i love cooking with squash, sweet potatoes, chickpeas and other beans, rice, pastas, tomatoes....i'm a bit picky sometimes. like for instance, i can't stand the taste of quinoa. or celery.i'll admit it, i'm a chocoholic. our house almost always has chocolate somewhere in the kitchen.
as for growing things, we had a successful veggie garden this year. this is our second year growing some of our own stuff. we grew tons of tomatoes, zucchini, a bit of broccoli, and corn. the corn, well, it was my first time. maybe next year i'll have better luck with it. next year i've got even bigger plans >:D
i also like to grow flowers. who doesn't?!
i always take a billion photos of my flowers so you won't be missing any of that. unfortunately we will soon have cold weather upon us. so there won't be much flower action during the winter.
but for now, it's autumn, which happens to be my favorite season :)
oh and if you are wondering about the blog name, grim confetti, it's something i came up with a long time ago, it was part of a poem i wrote, and "grimconfetti" sort of became an online screen name and has stuck with me ever since.
